How do I clean the feeder on an Ultimaker 2 style printer? (Black feeder)

Follow the steps of this article to clean the feeder of an Ultimaker 2 printer. These instructions are for the black feeders found on Ultimaker 2 printers. 1.) Prepare the printer

1. First, unload any material from the machine, (see How do I Unload filament from the Ultimaker 2, 2+, & 2 Extended [LINK])
2. Turn the printer off.
3. Unplug the power connector

2.) Disassemble the feeder

Remove the two screws (pictured below) holding the metal stepper wire cover. Remove the stepper cover by pulling directly up on it. Remove the bowden tube.  Remove the clip Push the press fit connector down Remove the tube Remove 3 of the 4 screws on the back of the feeder. (pictured below) Make sure to support the feeder stepper motor as you remove the 4th screw as it will fall when the last screw is removed. Keep the base and lid of the feeder together as you remove it as there are many parts inside that will want to fall out.

3.) Clean the feeder

1. Remove any debris from the Bowden tube. Note - this is also a good time to check if you need to replace the Bowden tube.
2. Over a clean desk or table remove the lid of the feeder. Note - There are spring-loaded parts inside that may try to come out with some force when you open the lid. Be prepared to keep all the parts together.
3. Use compressed air to clear any debris from inside the feeder and also on the knurled brass wheel attached to the feeder stepper.

4.) Reassemble

1. Reassemble the feeder, and insert its four screws.
2. Replace the feeder on the back of the printer with one hand while replacing the stepper motor with the other hand.
   1. Make sure the white lever is facing towards the outside of the machine.
   2. If it is facing inwards your printer will extrude backwards.
3. Use your thumb and index finger to tighten one of the screws a few turns to get it started threading in the stepper motor. Use the Allen driver to loosely tighten the screw
4. Tighten the screw diagonally opposite the first screw you tightened.
5. Loosely tighten all four screws and then fully tighten them.
6. Adjust the idler arm tension via the adjustment screw through the hole on the top of the feeder until the tension indicator is on the first mark.
7. Finally, replace the stepper cover and the two screws that hold it on.
