STEM Expo is one of the largest events we hold annually for the students to show the work they have been proudly working on and presenting.
When you are operating STEM Expo you should be one of the chosen few who has a walkie talkie. Ensure you have it on at max volume at all times to be able to listen for any SOS calls.
Laptop setup for registration
(NOTE: The day before the event, ensure that all laptops you plan on using for registration are charging)
- Ensure whoever is operating a registration table are able to login to the laptop with an FWPS account
- The account needs to have admin credentials so you're able to access the control panel and power settings
- Ensure power for laptop to sleep and turn off the display is set to "Never" on the battery settings
- Take the registration link and put the link in your Z drive so you are able to drag it to the desktop on the other laptops
Judges room
(NOTE: The day before the event, ensure that all laptops in the computer cart have been shut down properly and are able to charge overnight)
For the judges room ensure you have done the following
- Distributed laptops to each table group
- 2 per table group should be enough
- Ensure judges are able to sign in to the laptop
- You will have to give out your credentials for this
- Print your credentials out and make at least 20 copies and distribute the paper to each table group
- Also ensure at the end of the event you collect these papers and change your password to something only you know
- Print out login information for FWPS-Guest wifi for judges who brought their own laptop
- All the will have to do is click on FWPS-Guest and they will be redirected through a portal and connected to wifi. There are restrictions on this particular wifi network, there is nothing we can do if they aren't able to reach a website. They should however, only need to use the link the instructional coach has sent out.
During the event
As stated at the beginning of this guide, ensure you keep your walkie talkie on max volume. You will need to be able to hear if you are called on it, or have the headphone plugged into it and listen for your name when you're called. Make yourself present and available during the event by constantly walking through the hallways if there are any SOS calls.
During intermission
Take all laptops that were being used for registration and charge them up while everyone is eating lunch. The 2nd wave of students will start coming in during lunch, find out the time highschoolers should be coming and and distribute the charged laptops back out to the registration tables 10 minutes before they come in. Be sure to sign to the laptops with an admin account.
